Well I’m done with my week of splurging. I ate everything under the sun that I missed eating. I went through a whole box of twinkies in one week!
I’m back on my diet today to get ready for the June competition. I brought my gallon jug of water to work and my colleague was petrified.
You can’t drink all that water… it’s not good for you!
Now wait a minute… I’ve never heard that it’s bad for your kidneys and I could get sick if I drink 6-8 glasses of water a day. So I did a little research. You know me… I just want someone set the record straight!
You CAN overdose on water. It’s a condition called HYPONATREMIA. It occurs when the sodium to water ratio is not balanced in your body. Typically this occurs when you run long distances (like a marathoner) or sweat for a long period of time and don’t replace the sodium but only drink water. This is why it’s important to drink a sports drink that will replace what’s lost through sweat. It can also occur if you drink too much water in a very short period of time. Bottom line… sip, don’t gulp!
In short, I’m not going to die! My kidney is not going to give out! In fact as long as you eat balanced meals and urinating frequently, drinking more water helps you lose weight. So, I’m going to continue drinking my gallon of water, go to the gym after work and not fret!
Make it a great day!
Priscilla
